Going Green

Going Green

The decisions we make as consumers are important. Whether buying environmentally friendly products, supporting local businesses, or those that support great causes. One of the things I love about Minnie and Moon is that I am able to work with manufacturers to influence how products are made, shipped, and packaged from the start. We do this by ensuring we only offer quality, knowing where our products come from, and insisting the products are shipped in bulk, rather than each one packed in a plastic bag, for example. Once it arrives here, we package it in recyclable and biodegradable materials. As a consumer you buy something once and don’t have control over how the product comes packaged to you. I love that we can make a difference in hundreds of products                                                        .                                                                                                                                                                                  Our goal to be as green and renewable as possible isn’t always perfect. Even fairly recently we had been shipping out our glass products in padded envelopes to protect them, but that didn’t align with the values of Minnie and Moon. After lots of searching, I discovered some great biodegradable/recyclable padded mailers, which has eliminated plastic entirely from our shipping materials (unless we come across some that has to be recycled). Though it does come at a cost, not only are the envelopes more expensive, but they are heavier and more expensive to ship. So, making the change to green isn’t always easy, and not inexpensive, but we will continue to always buy quality, do better, and make continued changes for the greater good.

Since it took me a bit of time and effort to find this new packaging, if any other businesses are looking to go a little greener, I found plastic free padded envelopes here
